The RodnReel Hotel in the main street of Woodburn was the travellers stop of the Pacific Highway, Woodburn is a country town on the banks of the Richmond River. With great parks and kid friendly playground on the river today it is known as ‘a travellers rest’, a wonderful place to stop, stretch your legs have pub meal at the pub or stay overnight in the motel attached. Woodburn was a major hub on this river large vessels, small craft and ferries, which for over a100 years were the only goat tracks, the river was the highway, alive with sailing ships, ocean steamers and riverboats. The junction of the Wilson and Richmond rivers at Coraki is located in the heart of the Richmond Valley. Rich in history and heritage, this village has a pub, bakery, shops, butcher. The Rod N Reel hotel has accommodation good pub food for the travers kid play area, the complex is popular with families and is a meeting for locals in the evening and when there a few races happening. The publican Daniel has overseen extensive renovations and then came the flood to the roof “unexpected” dust yourself off and back into it t destination food cold beer and Toohey’s old on tap wina wina chicken dinner. The Rod n Reel Hotel has a long time burnt down in 1954 the Hotel was then destroyed by a cyclone, then rebuilt in 1956. Worth a visit to Woodburn if just to have a beer in the local pubs the RodnReel got the food check for when they put on live music and get the local in and stay the night
