In town for a couple of days gave me a chance to explore the local entertainment and dining experiences in this town West Wyalong there many hotels/pubs some need some love some been renovated, and some done very well, and this is a standout decked out with an Irish flavour look to be the smallest pub in town and it may just be the best.

Bar staff are welcoming and inviting with the Irish accent with we decorated public bar thinking this is going to cost heaps for a beer but no, well priced can I say happy hour. And a nice crowd not long a menu appears if I am staying for diner and yes how could I say no, Rack of Lamb with a good bottle of red the dining extended out to a rear beergarden with accommodation on the sides of the courtyard and a private dining room of to one side.

The renovations are very sensitive to the this 1914 built hotel architect Mr R Rahman budget £3,750 the town and the pub have great history with SP bookmaking in the 1956 a few fires the stables burnt February 1926 Royal Hotel Stables Destroyed Cow Severely Scorched and Little dog Perishes The clanging of the fire-bell at about 3 o'clock on Sunday morning and on September 1934 fire in the bar area this pub is a survivor, This is a great town heaps of history and worth more than two night to explore not just the pubs but the surrounding area find some gold. “this is Australia”

The publican Daniel has overseen extensive renovations and then came the flood to the roof “unexpected” dust yourself off and back into it t destination food cold beer and Toohey’s old on tap wina wina chicken dinner.

Grandchester Hotel replaced the Railway Hotel was destroyed by fire in the 1950s. It was rebuilt and is now known as the Grandchester Hotel. This pub is a true community pub servicing local farmers and historic local families, the pub works hard to attract new customer with live music, promotions good food. Grandchester derives from the old English name for bigge (Grand) and camp (Chester), Worth a visit local river, train station and other historic building around town the gatekeeper's cottage was originally situated beside the level crossing. It was later shifted to its present position and is now a private residence. Grandchester State School opened on 29 January 1878, Grandchester Post Office opened on 1 January 1866 and closed in 1978, Grandchester sawmill is the last known surviving steam-powered flat-belt sawmills in Australia. The Mill engine manufactured in 1908, is under re-construction and restoration this important piece of history is preserved for the generations that follow.
